1. Do you think employee wellbeing should be at the top of the priority list for all businesses?

Yes, 100%, we spend so much time of our lives focusing on our careers and working; it’s very important that the environment you choose to do it in is positive and your wellbeing is prioritised.

2. Do you think there has been a bigger focus on employee wellbeing due to the pandemic?

This is a tricky one, I think it depends on each company individually. I’ve come across a lot of companies that have recognized the importance of employee wellbeing especially while people are working from home but sadly there are still too many organisations that have not adapted.

3. How can businesses promote employee wellbeing in the workplace?

I think there are smaller and bigger steps that can be taken like spreading mental health awareness, encouraging employees to rest and to exercise, or implementing employee praise and recognition. The bigger ones would be allowing flexible and hybrid working or bike to work schemes. Even giving your employees the right tools to work with that can save them time could increase their productivity and wellbeing noticeably - and yes, I’m talking about internal comms.

4. What has particularly helped your employee wellbeing over the last year?

I am one of the pro-hybrid working people. Since last year I have had to work from home, then work from the office and then from home again. Honestly, I enjoy working from home so much; I have more time, I have the comfort of my own home and I feel a lot less stressed. I also get to listen to my own music as loud as I want and that is a huge bonus for me.

5. In your opinion, what is the best way to measure employee wellbeing?

Employee satisfaction surveys are a great way to do this; it’s important to address the good and the bad to your employees and build an action plan.
