The Challenge

Pluralsight, a global leader in technology skill development, faced challenges with their previous intranet. It was complex with limited navigation, making it difficult for its workforce of 2,000 employees to find and utilise critical information. Pluralsight was also unable to customise some key aspects of the site. The challenges of the old system were becoming a barrier to efficiency and were not aligned with the company’s dynamic needs. Recognising these challenges, Pluralsight sought to implement a solution that was not only more functional but also robust enough to support the evolving needs of their 2,000 employees.

“Life@PS has a user-friendly design and advanced search functionality. These improvements have made a meaningful difference in enhancing the employee experience, allowing our team members to work more efficiently. We’ve already seen such positive feedback. We’ll continue to use data to guide our decisions and strategies, furthering our commitment to excellence and efficiency in all aspects of our operations.”

The Solution

Life@PS

Pluralsight’s intranet, built on Oak Engage’s SaaS platform, was deployed in a remarkably short span of just ten days. Life@PS has lots of key features that enhance the employee experience and improve operational efficiency.

Paul Rogers, Senior Director of Internal Communications at Pluralsight said: “Our mission was to revamp our intranet and Oak Engage was the clear winner. Their capabilities were impressive and they ticked a lot of boxes when it came to our requirements that were critical to our operations. We have utilised quick polls on our intranet to measure employee satisfaction which have already shown that our team members are embracing our new platform.”

Improved search functionality and navigation

Oak Engage's intuitive interface ensures a seamless user experience, making it easier for employees to navigate and utilise the intranet for daily tasks. The enhanced search capabilities, coupled with improved navigation, significantly streamlines access to Pluralsight's extensive knowledge base and evergreen resources.

Their new intranet integrates with essential tools such as Google and Okta, and also includes a built-in browser feature, thereby enhancing overall productivity and collaboration.

Isaac Leach, Operations Manager at Pluralsight, said: “By integrating with our key systems, Oak has empowered our people with one central hub. This has also allowed us to streamline access to multiple tools so our people have everything they need in one secure place.”

Customisable homepage

Pluralsight’s previous intranet lacked robust customisation in some key areas, which meant relying on fixed templates that often failed to meet their needs. Oak Engage now offers high-level customisation, including movable tiles and adjustable layouts.

Isaac comments: “Oak has given us the ability to customise different pages on our intranet to cater to a wide range of employees and job roles. This just wasn’t possible before.”

Incorporating multimedia content is also now more straightforward, which allows Pluralsight to share more dynamic and engaging content with their employees.

Critical and personalised news

Life@PS has become a vital tool for delivering news. It distinguishes important company updates from less critical communications, ensuring vital information is promptly and effectively disseminated.

Issac said: “Oak Engage has enabled us to reach the right people at the right time and make sure that important news is highly prioritised, cutting through the noise and ensuring that critical information is not missed by the company. This has been a game-changer in how we communicate with our team members.”

Analytics

Oak's analytics provide Pluralsight with detailed reporting and metrics to help measure the success of their communications strategy and demonstrate the value of their messaging.

Pluralsight's intranet analytics

Oak's analytics effectively prove the value of Pluralsight’s communications through a variety of metrics, including engagement and content reach. With these insights, Pluralsight can create content, carry out best practice and align their strategy based on what resonates with their audience.

“One of our company values is to champion the customer. We truly care about our customers, both internal and external, and seek to understand their needs before creating solutions. Life@PS has given our team members one place where they can feel informed and connected. The launch has already been a success with the majority of our workforce actively using the platform, as well as high engagement rates.”
